When “graduating” from a beginner group, some younger students do very well in a semi-private lesson, where two students share a 30-minute lesson slot. The lesson is divided between individual play, combined play and sight-reading practice. This is often the ideal transition from the larger beginner group to the more intense individual 30-minute lesson.

Semi-Private with parents

Two girls in a semi-private lesson: Parents learn basic skills along with their children, participate in the lessons, and practice with their children at home.

A fun game that also helps reinforce basic skills: one child bows on the other child’s violin, then they switch. These two girls started in a group but now share a semi-private lesson.
